1. Purpose and characteristics“Biomin” powder and granules are used in dentistry and orthopedics for:
“Biomin” is a nontoxic, biocompatible material. Owing to the fact that the formulation and structure of “Biomin” are identical to the formulation and structure of bone mineral constituent, the material favourably influences reparative osseogenesis, favours sharp increase in bone wounds regenerative process speed. The material also integrates with bone tissue engaging to the metabolic processes. 2. Description“Biomin” is white or pale pink powder with the particles up to 40 mcm and porous granules of 80-100, 200-400, 400-600, 600-800 mcm, 0.8-1.0; 1.0-2.0 mm and porous products of defect size. Powders and granules are produces with the following formulation:
All provided material brands are of different formulation and structure that leads to changes in resorption speed in the organism and the nature of biocompatibility. All materials of “Biomin GlS”, “Biomin TlS”, “Biomin GTlS” have aseptic effect and may be used in purulent surgery. “Biomin T” faster than all other types intercourses with bone tissue, however, it rapidly resorbs. While filling large cavities it is necessary to coordinate resorption speed with the bone tissue reparation speed. Material alloyed with silicon intensifies reparation processes due to synergistic effect of silicon and calcium ions on bone cells activity. The lesser material parts size, the faster is the intercourse with bone tissue, however, further process of bone tissue regeneration goes on periphery of implant material since particles induration prevents from fibrogenesis. Large porous granules faster invade through the whole material size with graft, however, they are inconvenient to use with minor defects and they are less active during intercourse with bone tissue. Power and small size granules are recommended to fill cavities sized 1-2 sm3,, when filling cavities of 2-10 sm3 granules of 1-3 mm size are recommended, when filling cavities more than 10 sm3 it is recommended to use granules more than 3 mm. Mixture of granules of different size will allow to obtain the appropriate graft invasion. All types of material easily undergo to sterilization by means of vapour and air method. Unsolvable in water. |
3. Indications.“Biomin” is used for: 4. “Biomin” counter-indicationsAvailability of acute purulent inflammatory process 5. Sterilization methodBiomin sterilization is carried out according to the standards OCT 42-21-2. 6. Application methoda) Filling of post-operative tooth tissue defects. After the necessary operative intervention has been carried out, “Biomin” powder is mixed on the sterilized glass plate with the spreader on NaCl isotonic solution adding 2% of dioksidin solution until consistent paste mass formation. Bone defect is filled by 2/3 of the size. The wound is thoroughly sewn up. b) Distant sockets filling After tooth extraction sharp socket edges are smoothed if necessary. Powder is mixed the way shown above. Socket is friably filled with powder for the whole size. Mucic mouth cavity is stitched up with 1-2 guiding sutures. c) Progressive parodontitis treatment and dental arch reconstruction. After operative intervention according to one of the gingivectomy methods, interdental spaces are filled with “Biomin” granules from the sterilized bag and sealed with spreader. Mucoperiosteal flap is mobilized. The wound is thoroughly sewn up and periodontal pack is laid. Sutures are removed in 9-11 days. d) Root canal dressing, odontitis treatment, deep dental caries. After vital subtotal pulp extirpation and mechanic and medicated processing of root canal a thoroughly dried canal is filled with “Biomin” granules. Root canal is additional dressed with a paste used for root canals dressing; in case of parodontitis “Biomin” powder is mixed on the sterilized glass plate on sterilized physiological salt solution, eugenol or carbossimetilcellulose to receive paste to be used immediately before application (working time 1.5-2 min.). The prepared root canal is filled with received paste to apical aperture; in case of caries pulp cap is preopared as paste ob physiological salt solution. Further actions after filling tooth cavity with paste do not differ from the general ones. Material filling over root apex is possible. e) Apical aperture closure of root canals. After cystectomy operation and root apex resection root canal is retrogradely and thoroughly filled on 2 mm depth with “Biomin” granules. 7. Storage conditions“Biomin” is stable at the temperature of -50 to +850 ºC. Storage term: 5 years from production date. Notes: * - small letter “g” stands for “granules”. |
